I just want to know if this information is true,


because i find it surprising that soemthing so widely used


could be dangerous.


i know enough to take them out when needed,


but why could they hurt me?

There are chemicals in tampons that may be left over from cleaning %26amp; sanitizing the materials that construct the tampon. There are also chemicals in the scented ones (perfumes) which can cause irritation.





Speaking from personal experience, I used tampons from the time I was 15 till I got a hysterectomy in September...over 25 years and never had a problem.





Oh, and TSS is a VERY rare disease and is NOT a tampon-only illness (TSS can be contracted by anyone at any time from something so simple as a scratch). Just don't worry about that.

Toxic shock syndrome is now very rare though. If you want to use tampons it is your own personal choice and you should do so. If your mum refuses to buy them for you perhaps print her out some information on organic tampons or take her along with you to a doctor so he/she can explain how unlikely toxic shock syndrome is if you use the product responsibly.
yes there are things such as chlorine in them. nothing that can be harmful to you though. the most dangerous thing from using tampons that you can get is toxic shock symrome which is a bacterial infection. usually caused by forgetting or keeping a tampon in for too long. they should only be kept in from 4-8 hours.

I wish she would offer a solution like giving you a tampon brand that is proven safe rather than just saying that to you and then leaving you to wonder.

they can cause tss but only if you leave them in for an extended period of time. they're perfectly safe if you change them regularly (every 6-8 hours), and they're by far the easiest and most effective way of helping you out at that time of the month
Most women use them, they're seriously better than using a pad. Their comfortable and yes you hear of toxic shock syndrome but it is rare. If you follow the directions and not leave them in longer than your suppose to you'll never have that problem.
no...but you can get something called toxic shock sydrome if you dont change the tampons enough thats all...they wont hurt if you use the correctly...you can half and half listen to her they can be harmful but only if not used correctly...theres nothing to worry about!
They only cause TSS %26amp; that's if you leave the darn things in there 24/7





Other than that they are ok unless you're allergic to the cotton then go find the organic ones
