And you were raised somewhere in Afghanistan...
Do you think you would be Muslim?
If your mom and dad raised you thinking Jack and the Beanstock was true...
would you believe in it as fervently as you do the turning of water into wine?If your mom and dad raised you thinking the Koran was true?
I spent my childhood as atheist, and yet now I'm a Christian.
Jesus is able to change anyone, no matter where they are.If your mom and dad raised you thinking the Koran was true?
In case 1 definitely yes, as I would live in a society where you are ';rewarded'; for the right faith, as everyone is muslim out there.
Jack and the beanstock would be a different thing, though. As there is no society where every adult person(or at least a majority of them) believed that the story about Jack and the Beanstock is true, you would, sooner or later, discover for yourself that it is just a fable, no more, no less.
';Every national church or religion has established itself by
pretending some special mission from God, communicated to certain
individuals. The Jews have their Moses; the Christians their Jesus
Christ, their apostles and saints; and the Turks their Mahomet, as
if the way to God was not open to every man alike.
Each of those churches show certain books, which they call
revelation, or the word of God. The Jews say, that their word of God
was given by God to Moses, face to face; the Christians say, that
their word of God came by divine inspiration: and the Turks say,
that their word of God (the Koran) was brought by an angel from
Heaven. Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for
my own part, I disbelieve them all.';

no, i don't think so, i was raised christian and yet i am not one anymore, i've been experiencing a few religions and i think that following my own path suits me best. The religion you're raised in doesn't affect your ability to think for yourself, too much.
Yes, most religious people have the same faith as their parents and the predominant culture of their immediate surroundings. Most atheists have left what the religious still believe.
I was raised Catholic, became like Chris is now then got into the new age and occult and eventually became Catholic again. Some people choose the religion that they are told others choose on there own.
i live in a muslim country. my mum and my dad said nothing to me about Quran.Reading Quran is enough to be a muslim.
try.....
Yes because religion is a cultural construct and not divine
Yes.
of course culture has a bearing on belief structure
