My mom said that an actor has to be good in school to be an actor is it true?

Your mom is correct. In order to be a great actor you need to be excellent at reading, comprehension, research and dedication. School teaches you all of those things.

And the person who mentioned having a fall back career is correct. Less then 1% of people in this industry make it. Having a plan B and skills you can use in many various fields is imperative.

And FYI... the person who mentioned Dakota Fanning perhaps does not realize that according to IMDB she started kindergarten at age 4陆 and she is currently in high school.

For the 2008-2009 school year she is a cheerleader for Campbell Hall, a private Episcopal college-preparatory school in North Hollywood, California. My mom said that an actor has to be good in school to be an actor is it true?
I believe the point she is trying to make is that if you excel in school, you will have learned to discipline yourself and assert yourself. If you want to be a good actor, you need to do those things. Even if you are a so called 'natural', you have to pay attention to what is going on and follow directions. Not only that, but having an education will allow you to make a living while you are pursuing you dream. Most people never make the big time.

Good luck.My mom said that an actor has to be good in school to be an actor is it true?
Your mom is just saying that to keep you in school! Dakota Fanning is a good actor and she started when she was only five, no chance to even get to be good in school before she started. Johnny Depp dropped out of school.
If you're under 18, and you go to audition for a professional acting school, YES you need good grades to be able to attend. They don't want acting to interfere with school, and neither do agents.

YES YES YES YES YES
it wudnt hurt to do good inschool...heres a good way to look at it, if you go to a school of arts and u got take course in theatre or acting or w/e feild u get into you can make friends who may help you inlife... you networking...
She's right in that you have to be a good STUDENT. You want to be able to absorb and apply what you learn as quickly and effortlessly as possible.
Yes she is right, because actors seldom get jobs in acting it will be good to have a degree so you will actually be able to have enough money to eat and pay your rent.
Not really as long as they can act. It sounds like one of those things parents say to keep their kids in school.
