This is called an episiotomy. If you do not want your doctor to do this it is your right to tell them so. You need to talk to your doctor about this as soon as possbile because if you whole heartedly do not want to be cut there and your doctor prefers the episiotomy method you need to change doctors. Studies have been done that prove that is is a lot better to tear ';down there'; than to be cut. The wound heals faster. The reason doctors favor episiotomies is because they are easier for them to stitch up. Yes it can happen. It all depends on your baby and you DR. I was not cut though my son ripped me (sorry did not mean to scare you there.) to tell you the truth though I did not feel a thing when it came to that. I would nto worry about it to much becuase you so cought up in the moment that will not even notice. I hope this help you and did not scare any worst.
yes if you don't stretch well they may cut you and yes it hurts like hell for weeks afterward.

yeah sme women are cut some stretch just fine and others rip. you won't be feeing as of it becuz of the horriblecontractions and back pains you'll be having. believe me there are worse things.

Yes, it happened to me. Don't worry. It doesn't happen to everyone. But if it does happen, you won't even feel it you will be busy delivering a baby.
Sometimes what is known as an episiotomy is done if you start to tear when the baby is coming out. They cut you just a little so that you don't tear all crooked and whatever. That is the best way that I can explain it. You won't feel it at all, you probably won't even notice. The doc will give you a few stitches that will dissolve on their own in a few weeks. You will heal up back to normal. No big deal. Don't worry about it. They do say that it helps to take your finger and stretch out the area starting a few weeks before you are do to make the opening bigger and maybe avoid tearing. But like I said, it is very common and not a big deal. Don't worry.:)
I was told that its very common but not everyone has to get it done. but I've heard your so focused on other things that you wont even notice. I'm scared about that too tho.

But some people don't do that. Some believe it isn't needed as you can tear anyways. Alot of women tell there doctors they are not to do that to them.
it depends on ur body.... of the baby can't get its head out then yes they cut u so that there is more room.... cause if they don't then the baby will rip u.....so its for ur good

It is better to be cut a little, then tear yourself. Cut edges are easier to saw back together and heal much faster. Torn flash is difficult to heal. Don't worry about this. If there will be a need to cut you a little bit, believe me, you won't even know about that unless the doctor will tell you) Relax and enjoy your pregnancy!
no its not. the only time they will have to give you a little slit is if the baby is coming and your vagina may be too small. dont worry they told me my vagina would open like a bucket. nothing like that, dont let anyone fool you my dear, child bearing is a wonderful feeling (for me that is) njoy your pregnancy
Yes. It's called an episiotomy. They cut a little between the vagina and anus to create a bigger opening for the baby. Also, lots of women rip. My sister had a baby about 2 weeks ago...her delivery happened so fast her body didn't have enough time to stretch and she literally ripped from hole to hole (vagina to anus)...the DR had to put his finger in to sew a new anal sphincter! I'm not trying to scare you but unfortunately this is something that can happen in labor...I think it's better to be prepared for what could happen rather than be completely blindsided and surprised by the things that happened. but there are also times when a woman does not rip. Hopefully you will have a wonderful delivery!


Another thing that commonly happens during delivery is the woman will actually poop on the birthing table because she's pushing so hard. But don't worry, the nurses take care of it very quickly! They also think it's a good sign because it means your pushing correctly.





All in all labor is no fun but stay calm because something wonderful will come out of it...your baby!

I would talk to your doctor about it. Some doctors don't do this anymore and let the woman tear naturally because they say it heals better. By the time you are in labour and having your baby I don't think it will be freaking you out as much.
