Is it true that if my mom had breast cancer, i will?

my moms the only one from both sides of it. but it worrys me?Is it true that if my mom had breast cancer, i will?
Some types of cancer is passed down but to find out if you have that certian gene you would need to get some testing done for the types of brca gene and then you'll know your chances for getting breast cancer. Even if your positive for that gene it doesn't mean your going to get cancer it just increases your risk.

Also doing stuff to help your risks include eating right and exercising regularly, so talk to your doctor and weigh your options.Is it true that if my mom had breast cancer, i will?
No. but your risk for getting it is higher.Tell your doctor and ask about how often you need screenings. Don't forget to check your breasts yourself Your doctor can teach you how to do this. Good luck.
90% of all breast cancers are not inherited.
Not necessarily. I would check with my MD about my concerns. There are clinical tests whose results can predict your tendency toward possibly having that cancer in the future; he/she can advise you about them.

Ask also about ovarian cancer testing. Most OVCAs are not diagnosed until it's almost too late. Our slogan is ';It whispers - so listen!';

Best of luck to you!
No, not necessarily true. This is just one factor which indicates a higher risk. If there is sigificant family history of cancer, you may want to get a genetic test to determine whether you carry a genetic ACBR mutation which may indicate a much higher than normal risk of breast cancer.

Otherwise, just do the proper screenings, including self-exam.
