I heard that if you bottle a kitten, she'll never take to mom agan. True or false?

We're worried Kate (a first time mom) will not take care of her babies or try to eat them. We are totally going to be there to help deliver and get her babies latched, but we're prepared with tiny bottles and Just Born kitten formula to help her out. I hear that once they take the bottle, they'll never take to mama. Is this true? How can I wean them onto mommy once she gets used to them?I heard that if you bottle a kitten, she'll never take to mom agan. True or false?
False. Your best bet in getting the mother cat to take care of her babies is to give her time to get used to the idea. Don't interfere overly much. The care and feeding of kittens is instinctual behavior. If you override her instincts, then you may very well cause her to reject her kittens or kill them. But, if you end up feeding some of the kittens for whatever reason, as long as they are warm and she hasn't rejected all of the kittens she'll take them back. It's pretty common to supplement kittens, especially if the queen has a large litter.I heard that if you bottle a kitten, she'll never take to mom agan. True or false?
False.
I agree completely with the previous poster. Leave mama kitty alone! The best to get mama to *ignore* the kitties is to interfere. The best thing you can do is check back on the kits and *watch*. But touch them as little as possible and *do not* move them! Make sure mama kitty is in a good safe place before she goes into labor.
her maternal instincts will kick in. chances are you wont need to do anything.

its always good to be prepared. but if you handle to kittens too much, your baby may either hide them away from you, or reject them completely

try to just let nature take its course
